Zofia Petrou is a Contemporary Artist based in London, United Kingdom. Taking on a BA Fine Art degree at Kingston University, her practice has evolved through a sustained exploration of materials, symbolism and experimentation. Traditionally focused on figurative and symbolic depictions, Petrou’s work has transitioned into an experimental exploration of water-based abstraction, emphasising the interplay between movement, light, and organic mark-making.

Her artistic practice is characterised by acknowledging the significant role of creation, where the process serves as a vital medium in the construction of her work. Petrou interprets materials not only as a medium but as a creator, where she accepts the ability to surrender towards her practice, allowing water in its transformative nature to take its course. Through intricate mark-making of natural patterns, she explores the beauty found within stillness and connection. Petrou seeks for her pieces to hold value more than aesthetic appeals, where they create a space of rest, inviting viewers to interact, immerse and feel, falling into a meditative state.

In an environment that is filled with energy, she aspires to foster meaningful experiences for her viewers, where the aromas of tranquillity and stillness are pivotal in experiencing the work.
